Howdy everybody,

First off, I hope this is in the right place. I wasn't sure if I should post this in beginner questions, or saltwater forum...

I appoligize if any of these questions have been asked recently...

Anyway, I'm thinking of buying a saltwater tank from a friend. It's a 46 gallon tank with everything, he's had it running now for approx. 2 years. It includes the stand, tank, testing materials, lighting, lots of live rock, live sand (is that right?), a biofilter and about 10 small fish. I think it has some other things in it as well, I can't think of anything else at the moment though. I've never had a saltwater tank before and know very little about it other than the basics I've read on the net, but I do own an elaborate 36 gallon freshwater tank.

First question: He said he spent about $2k on the whole setup. Is that an exageration? He's asking $400 for everything. That's a pretty awesome deal, right?

Also, before I get into this, I'd like to ask if saltwater tanks a very expensive to maintain?

Lastly, if I do decide to get this tank, does can someone give me link for information on how to move a saltwater tank? I know how to move freshwater tanks (just moved my 36 gallon about 3 days ago...)

Any help is appreciated!

$400 doesn't sound too bad for a completely set up tank. If you could get a list of exactly what equipment he has on the tank right now we could give you a better idea if this is a steal of a deal or not. The type of lighting, how many pounds of live rock, what type of filtration and what brand are some starters.
