ok im a newbie to the wonerful world of bettas
im setting up a tank for a male its 25ltrs and will have a mature filter with flow control.
is there anything he can share his tank with ie cory cats?
the tank is for my daughter
thanks kind people :fun:

Yep, a couple of cory cats would be fine. Bottom feeders (corys, otos, maybe a plec in a big enough tank) are about the only things you can count on to be okay with a male betta though. You'll hear some people say they keep rasporas or neons or something with bettas, but for every success story, there seem to be three more stories of disasters... Corys are wonderfully entertaining to watch, and bettas are so full of personality... your daughter will love her tank! Good luck!

it really depends on the betta, some tolerate cories/otos/shrimp others don't, i think shrimp would be most risky, maybe get a betta then give him a a few weeks until his personality comes out, he could be very aggressive in which case no tank mates or he could be completely calm so tankmates could be a possibility, and welcome to the wonderful world :good:

Yeah of course Corys are as peaceful as can be. However, they're not the only thing that'll fit in that 6 gallon. You can get an African Dwarf Frog. They're fully aquatic so you don't have to worry about any land portions oh, and you don't have to worry about your betta with one either, because they only get 2.5 inches max. and that's the limit for them. Read up on thme though, don't want to end up with an African Clawed Frog and a dead betta. I would also suggest this as an iffy choice but shrimp are ok. Your betta may fancy a snack sometime during the day though and you'll come home to Mr. Splendens carving a multi-legged turkey. I'm not too sure about this either, but I also think you can plop a couple of glowlight tetras in there too. They're not nippy like their neon cousins, so it might be ok.

thanks for your replys :good: ,
great advice and my daughter is thinking of a name already lol, i will wait after we get one for a while then when we know what hes like we can take it from there. if all fails and he dont like his cory mates i will put them in one of my other 2 tanks  .
