Getting a bit frustrated with myself really. Got my tank via eBay. Started cycling soon after moving house in early December. Cycled before Christmas. Got 12 barbs (6 before and 6 after Christmas). Then got ahead of myself and got 6 corys and 6 boesemani (+ 2 sajica cichlids) over a short space of time. Now I am suffering from new tank syndrome. My second week of NTS, now nitrite is spiking. Have been doing daily water change to keep the levels down. Today my nitrite and ammonia are both approaching 0.25. Did a 50% change. Hopefully it will all settle down by this weekend. Sigh.
Also I think my corys are not being fed properly. I have bought Tetra catfish tablets, JMC catfish mini-sticks. Both managed to sink to the bottom but my other fish will find it first and eat it, leaving scraps for the corys. I'm hoping they will not eventually starve to death.
My sajicas had paired up before I bought them from my LFS. The female did have her breeding tube down, but now it looks like it's gone. The pair would do things together most of them time but I am seeing battle scars on both of them. Must have been fighting when I wasn't looking.
Hopefully things will only get better...
