wondering what the ideal size tank for a betta would be and any added extras i would need to purchase , eg. filter, heater, light....
i noticed some kits come with everything included, are these decent enough to use or just junk....thanks

an ideal tank size would be roughly 2 gal or more, a heater would be good and maybe a filter, or just keep up with the water changes, a few plants maybe alittle cave HTH :good:

2.5g is a good size for one. 5g if you intend to add a couple of more buddies like small cories.

thats a good idea, i wasnt sure bettas got along with anybody, but im sure it will make it more interesting to have some other fish species in there.do the cories absolutly need sand or do they jsut prefer it. hopefully some rounded off gravel will be fine? i was kinda mad when i found out i choose the wrong type of substrate for my 33gal so i cant have any bottom feeders in there witch is kinda disapointing because they seem so interesting.

if it is very smooth i don't think they'd be a problem, its just they have delicate barbles, have you considered a pleco for your other tank, maybe shrimp if you get a 5 gal, if you betta doesn't think there food that is

i'd love to have some bottom feeder things in my 33gal tank but being a beginner when i chose the gravel i chose some stuff thats a little bit pointy on some edges, i thought that since they like to chill and glide along the bottom it might hurt them, im a bit irked at it, eventually i might do a gravel change but not for a while at least.
