:shout: Passing this on as it worked great for me :good:

My plants, decorations and 3D background was COVERED in all sorts of algae and brown goo

I posted here for help and was advised on uping and downing lighting times etc,

I scrubbed and clipped but back it came

Not being a great lover of additives I held out untill I saw and used this stuff......

eSHa PROTALON-707 ANTI ALGAE TREATMENT

It is a week long treatment and turns your water green for weeks BUT......my end result was, and still, is fantastic :hyper:

My tank looks great and plants have gone crazy (It also killed all the snails so remove then first if you want them!)

See ya ;)

nice, one question tho, will it hurt snails or inverts? or scaleless fish?

He said at the end of the post it kills snails so it definitely will harm them and possibly inverts like shrimp. Not sure I would trust it with scaless fish til I knew what was in it.

Still skeptical about it but not as much now. I'd give it a shot in a test aquarium if I can find it in the U.S.

From what I understand, all algae killing products can be harmful, and are pretty harsh on the fish. I personally would stay away from any  ...

if they kill snails, then it uses copper, if it uses copper, chances are it will leach into substrate, ornaments, silicone etc, if it does that then say bye bye to adding inverts in your tank and dont think about making your tank a reef tank.

When you say you had algae was it just on the glass and stuff or was the water really green, that the problem i have in a coldwater tank, i cant even see to the back of it

@goldencomet, if you have greenwater (an 'algae bloom') then add an U.V. Sterilizer to your system and say goodbye to green water!

As for this product, it may work for the short term, but overall I think there may still be a problem & the algae may come back.
Having said that, in wiping out any algae you have now given the plants a chance to take over and thier rampant growth should keep the algae at bay.

I'll back up what Musho3210 states - such products are not ideal if they use copper as their active ingredient as this is an accumulative poison.

I wrote this topic late last night just before logging off so have only just seen the interest. :zz

As I said, it worked for my situation. :good:

My problems were a sort of mouvey-brown layer over the (plastic) wood and rock decorations. Same, plus a little blackening on my green plants (real) and green/brown algae on on the red plants (real). The (expensive) 3D background was also covered in a brown substance. :S

Apart from nitrate being a constant 40 ppm (as from the tap), the stats are constantly 'spot on'.

I was getting to the point of removing all the plants and chucking them.

I did not have any snails (apart from pest-type), inverts or scaleless fish but I agree that this product would be harmful to them as it killed my problem snails within a week.

This product is in 2 parts which I suspect means one is a algae killer and the other being a plant repair. :shifty:

All I will say now is that, after using this product several weeks ago it has destroyed just about all the above stated problems and apart from the snails there has been no ill effects to my stock (admittedly basic stuff, see sig.)
The plants are showing extreme new growth and the tank just has an overally healthier look about it.

For me, the best £6.99 I have spent for ages.......for you? if you have similar problems/stock to me then if you come accross this stuff in your lfs then take a look and make your choice :good:

Just sharing, friends!....... :friends: (No apologies for over use of emotions, I'm that sort of guy :p )

I've got it, I used it, I used it correctly, It did not work.

You got lucky I guess but it didn't work for me.

Didn't really do anything at all actually. I filled the table and stuff and all, did my dosage on the days you had too, but nothing.

That's a shame 'cos I too followed instructions to the letter and was a bit pissed at the fact that it says water will go cloudy but will clear in a couple of hours. In fact mine went very green and stayed that way for over a week. Then a couple of weeks later I went on holiday for a couple of weeks (great time thanks :good: ) When I returned (a week ago) a miricle!

Mine didn't cloud up as much as yours, the cloud went away within the time it said. The water just went the colour of the mixture for a bit. I don't trust it next time i'm going to get some creatures in to help with algae.
