Hi everyone. I got these geos in my lfs but im not sure what type. Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou. Please excuse the dirty glass.

I think they are Threadfin Acara (Acarichthys Heckelii)

Just to be confusing they are geo's not acara as in the aequinenes acara, the latin I found for them on the net is Geophagus thayeri.

Just checked the net and your spot on Star. Ive been looking through dont know how many web sites to find which geos they where. Thought the lfs we got them from knew their stuff but you live and learn. Thanks Star.

OK I am not that good  Geo's are very difficult to sex, normally the only way you find out is if they spawn.

Just have to wait and see then. Our red sevs spawned last week but as soon as the lights went out our salvini ate them so didnt even get a chance to see if the male was fertile or not. We dont have much luck with pairs and spawns

You have a salvini, I have just gone off you

how much were they mate? I bought my threadfin as a geo when it was young. The shop said it was a suri.

Heckelli are great. But be aware that they have a reputation for getting very, very violently (in fact lethally) aggresive to mates during spawning activity.

I,ve done a bit of reading up on them and apparently they,re very hard to breed so I haven,t much hope of getting that problem. I reckon I,d have problems breeding Rabbits.
