My wife and I purchased tickets weeks ago and anxiously awaited going to the Georgia Aquarium. Well, today we made our trip up to Atlanta and after what seemed like trying to get to our gate to catch a flight in O'Hare airport, we finally got into the Aquarium. I admit it was beautiful with many well designed galleries, however there was one problem.. There was not even room to breathe, let alone enjoy the displays. I was shocked to see the amount of people this place was allowing in at any one given time!! Disgusted from being bumped into and hit in the heels by people and their baby strollers, we decided to call it quits early. Perhaps it was a weekend thing, but I just dont think I could go back to that place again and think that I will enjoy it.

weekends will be the busiest days but then surely to overcrowd the place goes againt insurance and also proves dangerous. i would phone to say something and you never no you may recieve some free tickets. Places need feedback good or bad to maintain or change in order to be succesful so all feedback is good feedback in a sense

actually, its just that the place is ( a ) brand new, ( B ) touting itself as the world's largest aquarium and ( c ) showcases a massive whale shark display. :S

i went myself at the end of December. the tickets had to be bought well in advance over the internet; actually, we waited too long for reservations and had to get them through an expensive hotel package. it was alright... seemed poorly organized and i was strongly dissatisfied with the freshwater exhibits. there wasn't a lot of variety in the displays and i'd even venture so far as to accuse some of the tanks of being mis-stocked (particularly disturbing was a 3x2x3 that had easily 50 elephant noses in there with only a single piece of large bogwood to hide behind). the massive whale shark/open water display was fascinating and featured a nice variety of species without sacrificing population numbers for the schooling fish. the reef exhibits were, of course, ravishing.

i'd have to say that the large crowd was definately a turn-off for me as well. its hard to really enjoy watching the fish when you know that there's at least a half dozen children trying to see around your butt. :p but, based on the general surfeit of decent freshwater exhibits, i'd still reccommend the Chattanooga Aquarium as superior. (what? me? biased? ;) )

Hey, you can go up to Minnesota to go to the world's largest Underground Aquarium! Seriously it is, and there's never too many people there and it is very impressive.

i'm "working hard" on some. although, since i just removed them from the camera today... "hardly working" might be the better description. :p

i wouldn't have said anything except that there seemed to be some confusion as to what the Georgia Aquarium was and why it might be crowded!

I'd recommend going to the gatlinberg aquarium they have an awesome shark display with a tunnel that you could go thru and see the sharks and their was this one part of it that had tooth marks where it said a shark tried to get thru the glass.

we went there last year, yeah, i really enjoyed it!

It sure is better than this other aquarium place called the newport aquarium in Indania and that place is really small and they hardly had any fish their.
