BZ - I think your original plant was Diplidis diandra judging by some of the photos I've just seen on Google images.

I don't think so Diplindis Diandra tend to have pinkish tips (more so under high light) and mine looked nothing like this or some of the other google images I saw. But then I think it's actually spelt Didiplis and not diplidis ? or was that just a typo ?

You're probably right. I just thought the stem/leaf structure and colour contrast was more similar than any of the Rotala or Mayaca. I just don't think it was the same as what I have now and I can't see any other possibilty currently. It's only academic anyway.

I have the Mayaca....based on what was said about it having white tips etc.

It grows really well under 1.6wpg and CO2 without ferts.....like my val it tends to grow taller than the tank hence constant pruning is required.

i only browsed thru the post, so whats the sp. of the plant ? im getting rotala nanjenshan this weekend from a local hobbyist, and from what i saw it looks like that ....
