ive seen a "Geophagus" steindachneri slowly grow up at an lfs from a tiny juvi and its now looking stunning. still only about 2-3 inches but colouring up nicely.

its in with 2 other males that look a bit scared and not ideal to be honest and 3 females that are constantly harrassed. just wondering if it would handle itself in my ornatum tank? if so ill get it....

also i know they prefer to be in groups of 3 females to a male but i dont really have the room for 4 geos so it would be a lone geo im affraid

Matt, a singleton steinie works out quite well in a cichlid community in my experience. ALthough they are relatively feisty for a SA cichlid. But ornatums should be able to look after themselves. I think there's every chance that one may work out in your ornatum tank.

excellent thanks mate.

ive been told that the ornatums will be quite a handfull when bigger anyway so something that can give as goos as it gets will be spot on. lets just hope its still there next week when my tanks set up and running
