Hi there- I am new to this group and have some questions. First of all....I have a 90 gallon, and I'm running RenaXP3, as well as a Penguin 170. I have a 5 inch Turqoiuse Severum, Vampire Pl*co, and a 6 inch Oscar. We have our eye on a stunnning Geophagus Altifrons that's about 7 inches. I can't find any info on the web about him. Dou any of you have one or know a bit about them? Thanks In Advance,

Tara

These are eartheaters, and continually sift the substrate for food. In many cases substrate is not very important, but in this case sand is truly benificial, as these fish can't sift gravel as easily. Finer gravel will work fine. Geo's can be fairly aggressive with their own kind but generally ignore other tankmates. The aquarium should have some cover to provide some hiding spots for it for security. They are generally not very picky with food and are easy to keep.

My concern is that an adult Oscar will fill up a 90 gallon tank on it's own, and I'm not a big fan of cramming fish.

I don't have that geo but my surinam geo is beautiful and kinda like a big ram. He never bothered any other fish, and in fact, at this moment he si in a quarantine (he got ick) with three feeder guppies and hasn't bothered them in the 3 weeks he was there
