General Question About Tropical Fish

Thank you all for the suggestions on the tropicals. I think I'll just have to do lots of reading and research into what's best!!

Thank you for the advice on the fancies as well. I once kept goldfish in tiny environments after following suggestions of the LFS but thanks to the help of this forum, I've learned loads and upgraded to my 160L. I'm aware that the goldies may grow and they may live for a long time as well. I'm keeping an eye on their growth rates (to be honest, so far, only one has grown about 1/2" in the several months I've had them). I'm prepared to upgrade again or pass them on if that's what's best for them. I'm simply looking for future options at the moment

If the Facies are just Oranda's, then the recommended tank size for them is 20 Gallons for one and then 10 Gallons per extra one added. Your tank is 35UK/42US Gallons.

Hi, they're fantails.

Advice given on here was that I needed about 140L(?) for 3. Just to clarify, when I mentioned being understocked, I didn't mean I was going to buy another 10 but simply buy a replacement for the one who had recently died.

I'm thinking about just letting them be for the moment anyway until I make my mind up

tiger barbs are less aggressive if kept in groups of 5+ (preferably about 10). you can also mix varieties of tiger barb (regular, albino green) and they will shoal together. although they are less agressive in groups, it is not advisable to keep them with particularly slow moving fish or ones with long, flowing fins. i keep mine with a shoal of cardinal tetras and a group of corys. you are really looking at fish that can stand up for themselves or those that keep themselves to themselves and don't draw too much attention to their presence! my tigers always come to the front of the tank when i am there and will take food from my fingers!! corys are very entertaining to watch and have great little personalities! i personally feel that the cardinals do not display much in the way of personality or individuality but they look good in a shoal!

i would go for dwarf puffers if i were you!! i am currently looking into keeping them!

good luck and let us know what you decide!

L :good:
