Hey,

I'm interested to know where you guys buy your fishkeeping supplies? If you dont have a local pet store, do you use websites? if so, which are best? I've found many sites on google, I'm interested in tried and tested sites though :p Which work for you?

I've ordered from pets parade, and they seemed okay. I'm just trying to get an idea of prices etc to compare.
I live in the uk & there is only one small pet store near me.

So any advice would be great

I order a lot of stuff online. Its usually a lot cheaper than most pet stores and you can find rare items that would be very expensive if you special ordered them at a store. I am not sure of any UK based sites because I live in the US but I am sure that there are plenty of good places that some people that live a little closer to you can recommend.

I buy all my fish and supplies at my lps called feeders supply, not sure if their is one is the UK but they have some good prices and the first friday of every month they have 10% off all freshwater fish!

Depends on what you're shopping for.

But I like Aquatics Online, Aquarium Superstore, Living Seas for dry goods - and Trimar for fish. A lot of people also use Greenline for plants.

The above websites are all for the United Kingdom :)

However all that said, I still prefer to support my lfs and I'll generally try to buy from them or ask for a price match if I can find something cheaper online.

Believe it or not, Pets@Home.
I know a huge number of people avoid P@H for a number of reasons, but my local store has staff that really know their stuff and are known to refuse a sale if tankmates are incompatable. The display tanks are clean and the stock is always in good condition.
To be fair, their level of knowlege is better than the local Maidenheads on trops.

I buy my tanks and stands from an east coast based chain called Petland Discounts.

For other things like hoods and lights I order online from Petsmart. As far as I can tell, they have the lowest prices, much lower than any I can find locally. Periodically they offer free shipping for orders over a certain dollar amount and I look for these times to order. Usually I find I will need a spare heater or filter and take advantage of the free shipping to stock up.

Just about everything else I usually pick up at my good, independently owned lfs. Of course, I still look for bargains in used equipment and buy whatever I can find. :D

Nice to know someone has a nice P@H I don't, though saying that my breeding pair of kribs are from them. I suprised with you Maidenhead I occationaly use 4 of there stores and they all been good, 1 is great and I go there as often as I can, they got best in the south, in this years PFK Top Of The Shops.

I use Porton pet and aquatics , mainly. They got runner-up best in the south. I there every week almost and got myself a good breeding rep with them so they always take my fry, there realy interested in my albino krib fry, (when the adults finaly spawn.)

I never used online, not shore why though.

The last time I was in there they had dyed cory's, had a harsh word (i acherly said the fish where sometime acid dipped, how would they like to be acid dipped :*) :*) .with the staff and have never been back. There staff no nothing iver. Before that bad exsperiance I use to rotate between them and Porton every other week. Ieven posted about this on here.

Be nice to know if they have cleaned up there act since I was last there.

i go to my LFS called fish alive
its really good. The 1 man who runs it is very helpful and has been fishkeeping for over 20 years

Petco all the way...and sometimes...Wal*Mart.

I got my tanks and fish from a small shop but can't get easily get there as we have no car, so usually end up buying everyday supplies from Pets@home. Wouldn't get fish there, nor advice from some of the staff, but a couple of them know a bit more.
