Hi all,

I am considering getting an angel fish and just wanted to check they are 'compatible' with what I have in mind.

Well, a few stats first;

Tank is about 4 months old.

Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 15ish.

All live plants, mopani wood, 4" air stone undergravel in middle of tank, and stnes.

3 Neons, 2 Platys, 2 Clown loaches. Neons are very old, and dying daily. Rehoming loaches after xmas.

25% WC weekly.

Its a Juwel Rekord 70.

I was looking at getting a golden angel, would they be OK? Are they best to keep in groups? If so, how many could I have?

Is there anything else I should avoid before/after getting them?

Any other inforrmation, just ask!

Thanks in anticipation, D.

Whats the height of the rekord? Your neons will be dinner if you add an angel, althought if they are dying off, I wouldnt add anything in case there is something wrong which will effect any new fish.

Im certain its old age, the LFS I bought them from had them in a display tank for about 6 years before I bought them off them..

And I'm not sure of the height, sorry.

Angels need an 18" (Ive read, no experience with keeping them myself) tall tank for full grown size. In that size tank (70L) only one would be my advice, its just not big enough for more IMO. Check the height with a tape measure.

In case you havent read it, here is the pinned species profile: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=35001

If it isnt a Veil tail Variety, a 16 inch tall could work. Ofcourse, that is assuming that you gravel/sand isnt 4 inches deep.

I have just measured my tank, from a high-ish point on my gravel to the top of the water line is about 14", would that be OK for a baby Gold Angelfish, a Pterophylum Scalare.

How much do they eat?

What do they eat?

How much do they add to the bio-load?

Thanks, D.

nope no discus your tank is too small, for discus i would recomend a 200+ liter tank with about 5 or 6 discus and they need perfect water chemistry
