Having searched around for a while and checking out all of the major fish forums, I decided on this one. Looks like a great community here with lots of knowledgeable people!

We (my wife and I) have recently set up a 130L tank, the Aqua One 620T, and it is doing really well so far! The list of current residents:
- Castiel (Betta)
- Little Sucker (Bristlenose)
(only those two have names!)
- 2x Corydoras
- 4x Swordtails
- 2x Platys
- 5x Dwarf Platys
- 2x Silver Sharks
- 3x Hockey Stick Tetras
- 3x Black Neon Tetras

Here's a pic of the tank:

(one of the pieces of wood is still floating despite being in there two weeks now .. hopefully one day it will sink!)

The corys:

And the betta:

We're wondering at the moment if several of our fish are pregnant, which reading various threads it looks like they may be! One of the Platys and several of the Dwarf Platys. Will have to see how things turn out.

welcome to the forum :hi:

If your platies have ever been in a tank with a male, they will be pregnant, so you will be having fry anytime now, though they probably won't survive in your tank.

Can I just point out that the silver sharks aren't suitable for your tank; they can grow to a foot long and need to be in a shoal of 6 or more. You probably should look at retuning those :good:

Welcome! Your tank looks nice. Unfortunately, yes, the sharks should be rehomed. The cories and tetras will be happier in bigger numbers of 6+, but that's a nice start! :good:

My driftwood has been in the tank for 5 weeks, and it's still floating!!! :grr:

Hi all

Thanks for the welcomes! Good to know that the wood might finally sink =0)

As for the sharks, yes we spoke to the aquarium we bought them from about returning once they get to a certain size. But are they okay while still small? They seem to get on with the other fish well enough at the moment.

Definitely want to get more cories - would mixed types live well together? So if we got some pandas etc, would they school together?

And we were thinking of getting some low level plants, or I read others talking about moss, to give the fry a chance? Or is it the type of fish we have that means they have no chance? At some point we might try the breeding tank/net thing but don't think we are ready quite yet.

Cheers

The only problem with keeping the sharks temporarily, as far as I can see is the fact that you will get attached and it will be more difficult to part with them in the future

I would stick to one species of cory

Live plants are a great place for young fry to hang out. Try some moss and/or java fern
Cheers
Good luck!!
