sorry about the quality.

I always thought a useful way was whether the blue sheen they have goes through the black spot on their side. If it does its a female. I can't see from the pics but they look great :good:

cheers Si, they are still a bit shy, the deffo? female hasn't come out yet. The ?male? is about, but still looks a bit stressed, his spot is still quite dull, so can't see the sheen. Can the male have any red on there belly?

Apparently a pink belly is a female thing but I've never kept them so i'm not to sure there. my bolivian rams were really shy when I first got them but they will soon pick up I imagine. GBRs are very sensitive fish, a lot of people have better luck keeping discus from what I've read on here! So I guess it just takes time for them to settle in as long as the conditions are favourable

yeah, i did have a read before taking them off the blokes hands. The only thing i'm a bit dubias about is dosing to much N03, we'll see how they get on.

Both female I think, although somewhat stressed, the top 3 pics, you can clearly see a pink tummy, plus the anal fins are rounded and I cant see any extensions to the first few spines on the dorsal fin.

yeah, they had been in the tank for about 4 hours, and the lights had only been on an hour. I'll try and get a couple more photos later when the lights come on.

thanks ladies.

these 2 remained stressed and very lethargic for the last 3 days, so i took them both to MA who have now taken them. I have returned with 2 Bolivians (male and female), they seem a lot happier.
