i took a bunch of fish back yesterday and left myself with

2 bristlenose
2 kribs
some neons
armoured rock shrimp

it was very hard catching the fish i took back and therefor i removed everything in my tank (plants wood caves) just so i could catch them. i came home chucked a bunch of plants away and replanted. Towards the end of the night i noticed my male krib has what looked like slight fluff around its mouth and wasnt hanging around with the female no more. i woke up this morning and it looked worse. i didnt have any meds for it and had to go to work, at work i researched and came to the conclusion it was cotton mouth. My friend had some interpet no.8 which should cover it. i mixed it up according to the instruction and put in the correct amount. The sick kribensis moved 1 foot flipped on his back and died, everything else in the tank looks very lethargic now and gets blown about abit by the current. My 2 Bristlenose havent moved but are breathing, about 6 neons are dead. The med is in the date and the only conclusion i can come up with is that my tnak water isnt at the top and is currently 1 inch lower than normal so to much medicine must have been added and overdosed them. i couldnt get on here as my net is down and didnt no what to do so i recently stuck the carbon back in my filter in the hope it will remove some of the meds i dont no if i should have.

will the fish recover or does an overdose always kill?

can you overdose your fish with 1-2 mil to much medicine?

and should i have put the carbon back in or not?

put carbon back in and a 50% water change.

i did this years ago to my friends tank, i thought it was more litres than it was, added the treatment, and instantly killed a whole tank with the same stuff

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Did you increase aeration in the tank.

You can double dose anti internal bacteria med by interpet, so need to check it is the med.

Signs of overdose of meds are,
Excess slime, darting, erratic swimming, laboured breathing, turning upside down, gasping, fish will look pale, clamped fins.

Sorry its the anti finrot and fungus med not anti internal bacteria med.
Anti fungus and finrot med not that good on columnaris.
Also a bad strain of columnaris can wipe a tank out in less than a day.

Water change aswell. Increase aeration.

Size of tank in gallons or litres. 110 liters
How many fish and which type. 2bn, 2 kribensis, 15 neons, armoured rock shrimp
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph. ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 30, ph 7
Did you increase aeration in the tank. no but i have a pretty powerful filter in there anyway

the disease i thought it was is cotton mouth which was also being called columnaris

My lfs was closed by the time i finished work and my mate had some of that which was the best i could find, all i can think of is that my tank water is 1 inch lower than normal that combined wit my subrate would mean that my tank wouldnt have 110 liters of water and that they were over dosed but it would have only been by a few mil. The male krib which was the sick one went straight onto his back and died in minutes, most neons were on the back/side upside down and jsut getting moved by the current, the female kribensis was also getting blown about.

Today they look much better the Bristlenoses are moving about ive seen the female eat but not the male yet. The female kribensis is swimming about but when she goes near the filter outlet gets blown about abit as tho she is weak. The 10 remaining neons of which a bunch were getting blown about are now fine eating.

how long untill my tank would get back to normal do u think and do fish usual recover from overdoses?

Mouth fungus is flexibactor columnaris.

Are you running an airstone, if so turn filter flow down abit.

Once you can done another water change and ran some black carbon for two days, I would add myxazin by waterlife and pimafix for columnaris in the uk.
