hey all :fun: ,

i am fairly new to the tropical fish game (got my tank about 3 months ago)

all is well but i have a question...

a couple of friends of mine are also enthusiats and now and again they feed their fish small aquatic snails which clown loach seem to love!

i was wondering if garden snails were ok to give to fish or whether their toxins would poison the fish  ?

i have never seen it suggested anywhere but have never heard of it being bad either?

any thoughts

You can if you clear out their systems, as it were. Gordon Ramsey says it's prefectly fine to eat garden snails yourself if you do that. Generally, wash them, keep them in a jar for a week with no food, then give them a carrot and continue until their poo is orange. Then wash them again and feed them to the fish.

I wonder if he chose carrot because it's easy to see when it's gone through their system :) I remember feeding snails flour and water paste on a glass plate as a kid because the way their mouths worked was cool and you could see it from underneath!
