since i am moving in 4 days, the garbage bag will be used. I've heard people from this forum talk about it before. But, i have have been told that the garbage bag is poisonous???

Is that true? If so, maybe i shouldnt use the garbage bag.

I have to scoop 100+ guppies onto a garbage bag, then put the garbage bag in a huge bucket basically, way more complicated than it seems tho.

Why dont you just get some fish carrier bags from your lfs--the big ones?My lfs owner always gives me a few if I ask nicely(or threaten him) :D

i dont think 100+ guppies will fit in 5 gallons. maybe get one of those big rubbermaid containers and seal the top after the fish are in. then poke some holes in the middle and add an airstone. how long is your trip?

Hi kevin007

Finally making the move, hey?

The idea of a garbage bag makes me uneasy. Besides the reasonable possibility of contamination, it seems very vulnerable and the least accident would be disasterous. Maybe I'm missing something.

I once transported 100 dime to nickel size angels in a large cooler. 20 minuite drive, there was no more than 3 or 4 gallons of water in the cooler. They did fine, or I would have heard from the lfs.

Ok, today i have brought a 10G and a 5G rubbermaid bin, i'm just gonna fill it with tank water and dump all the fish in there. I move quite often so the weight is nuthing that cant be delt with. Thanks for the help everyone.

Sounds better than the chance of using large garbage bags.

My son is talking about me moving to MA. I wonder how on earth that works

Let us know how it works out. :)

Personally, I'd just buy a shiny new large plastic garbage bin and put then in that without the bag. That's my plan for moving my two large cichlids next year :)

Edit: Whoops, I'm a little late on the advice I see :*)

:D I will make a topic pretty soon, pic of the bin, and the process of moving, just so people in the future will know what to do or sumthin like that

Sounds good.

Sorry I missed the part about putting the bag in a container. :*)

Still if you don't want to put your drinking water in it, it might not be suitable for fish.
