Hey guys,

today i recieved my shipment of a Gamba bubble counter and my rhinox 200 difuser and wondered how the hell i go about setting it up ?

i also got another glass thing with a red piece of plastic in the middle now my guess is that its the check valve ?

how do i got baout setting all this lot up work :D

i'm a newbie at co2 :D

Thanks...

It more depends on the kit you plan to use to create CO2, yeast-based or pressurised? Pressurised may or may not have instructions with the kit, depends what you have bought.

its a co2 yeast kit with 2 2ltr bottles...

what i really want to know is do i just stick the tube onto the end of the difuser and stick it in my tank ? or so i need to fill it with water first ?

do i need to fill the bubble counter with water ?

Cannister1 and cannister2 into T-connector
3rd part of T-connector to check valve
Check valve to bubble counter
Bubble counter to diffuser

You may need to add some water to the bubble counter depending on whether it is one which goes in the tank or outside of it. You do not need to fill the diffuser with water though over a week or so it may end up with some water in anyhow, generally I clean/change my diffuser at each water change: currently I have one diffuser which I clean weekly, soon I will have two diffusers and will have one soaking in bleach solution whilst the other is in the tank, will make it easier to swap them over at each weekly water change.

Just to add I have had exactly the same items for about 6 months now. Good Choice. The bit with the red part is a Non Return Valve.

Cannisters line connects to the angled end of the NRV. The square end connects to the bubble counter.

Now connect a piece of airline (measure it first to how long you want it.) to the Rhinox and position the Rhinox in the tank making sure you dont get water in the tube.

Now fill up the bubble counter with water to almost the top. (the NRV will stop the water going anywhere providing you have it connected the right way up)

Now connect the airline from the diffusor to the bubble counter

Be a little careful when putting the tubes on the glassware as they can be delicate.

thanks for the help guys....

when i hooked the difuser up last night it only let bubbles out from one very small part is that kay or should the come out from the whole thing ?

It will take time to get bubbles coming out from the whole ceramic disk as the unit beds in.

I wouldn't worry too much about how it bubbles, more what it produces.

Have you got a drop checker in there?

For example, when I hooked my preesurised up to it it there were hardly any bubbles at all, but the drop checker went dangerously close to yellow.

Mine tends to release bubbles from the whole disc now but it is 6 months old and for a while it did just as yours did and has gradually worked it's way around the disc over that period.

One little tip I have found out when trying to get tight CO2 tubing onto glass objects without breaking them is this:

Run the tubing under the tap so that the water can get in and come out of the other end just before inserting the glass stem into it.

Then it will slide on much easier.
