Galaxy Rasbora

I saw these fish in a new LFS that I went to, and they were really cool! I have never seen them before though- are they rare?

No not particularly, several of my lfs stock them.

They do tend to get overlooked quite alot in favour of tetras but they are beautiful little shoaling fish which work in a wide range of tanks especially smaller tanks as they stay fairly small

They were only discovered in 2006 and already there are worries that this species is on the verge of extinction in the wild!

I believe that they have now been commonly renamed to the Celestial Pearl Danio, no idea off-hand if they have had a change in latin name at the same time.

Lovely little fish, would love to have a mini-fish tank with species like this, Hengels Rasbora, Endlers; Pygmy Cories; Sawbwa Barb etc.
