I'm in the lfs browsing the fish when the guy there comes up and asks if i need any help. I politely say "no thanks, not at the moment" as usual but my mum decides to ask the guy about the algae in my tank. She seems to think its a problem(even though she never mentioned this to me) and asks the guy(whos an experienced fishkeeper) what i should do to get rid of it. He tells me to start changing around 25% of the water every week instead of my normal 10-15%. I thought this was a bit much so i asked him if this would take too much of all the good denitrifying and other bacteria out of the tank :/ . He seems shocked to be asked the question and asks if i use stress zyme in my tank when doing a water change, which i dont because i hate adding anything to the water other than the nutrafin stuff i use to dechlorinate the water.

So basically he convinces my mum that i should be adding stress zyme to the tank frequently and during water changes and she buys a big bottle. When i got home i did the 25% water change and added the right amount of the right amount of stress zyme to my tank. 4 days on my syno has a few round white sluffy marks on him that look like bites/burns and one of my marbled hathcets has a fluffy chin and keeps wedging himself inbetween plants at the bottom of the tank  :( . Neither of them seem to be eating much either.
I've never had problems like this before and my tank is at least 8 months mature!

Whats up with my water? I dont have time to take it and get it tested because im leaving on a camping trip for the next 3 days, which leaves the fish with my neighbours to feed them :X . Im soo worried, can anyone help ????.
