Hi, I have a large tank and a noisy/ annoying FX5. I am looking into getting a fluidised bed sorted to aid filteration but I would also like to up the flow......

Do you guys think that it would be possible to use a 4500l pump to draw water out of my tank and through the FX5 (turned off) basically using it as a pressurised filter? Or do you think the increase of 2000lph in flow would be too much for the FX5 and it would blow the lid off or some other calamity? Thanks!

I've heard people blowing the lid off the fx5 so I suggest you be careful.

If the flow is good for the tank then you can always tee off a pipe with a valve to regulate flow out of the pump and feed some straight back into the tank and a controlled flow into the FX5.

Then you can always use the tee'd off flow for other things like fluidised beds or reactors if you want to get really complicated.

good plan, thanks for that! I will look into tees etc, will try it outside first in case it goes bang!
