fuzzy side pufferpack! lol !

I ordered those 3 dwarf puffers and got them today one had a poofy hair looking stuff over the gills and finn he is very active and dont want to lose him I am currently treating my tank with fungus eliminator am I treating for the right stuff? looks almost like a miniture live rock animal but dont think it is worms.

the patch was large and fuzzy but now its starting to shrivel and fall off. It looks like theres a bloody patch behind the fuzz. had to pull the poor guy off of my regent 30-60 a puffer isnt a very fast swimmer expecially missing one finn lol the is the most active sick fish I have ever seen! Im pretty sure he will make it.

It shows true ignorance when a store that sells fish only gives you a ill fish on purpose. They even added a plant to make up for it lol!

fish dude if you really want the 3 dwarf gouromis there yours 2 males 1 female I do believe. all you pay is shipping of about 5 max. breeding all these fish is making me short on room!

I would keep treating with the anti fungal stuff. honestly I don't know that much about puffers. sorry man. you may want to PM Pufferpack as he is our resident expert.

Sounds like you are on the right track, the white fuzz is probably a fungal infection , possibly on an old wound. I would recomend bringing the temp up to about 85F and continue treatment as per the directions on the meds, but keep an eye on the fishes condition throough the med cycle, if he starts to get sickly looking cut the dosage in half as puffers are scaleless and may find some meds a little too harsh.

You may also want to think about covering your filter intake with some sponge or nylons until your puffers fins heal up. It is a pain to keep cleaning the sponge daily but better that than peeling the poor little puffer ogff the intake daily.
