So I'm thinking...very deeply......about the future stocking of my 240l tank.

It's so difficult because there's so many different combinations of fish to choose from.....

At the mo, I'm stuck between 2 different combinations

There's the peaceful community combination:

2 Cockatoo cichlids (1 male and 1 female)
A shoal of 8+ Harlequin rasboras (or something similar sized)
2 Assassin snails
3 Amano shrimp
3 Oto's
And some bottom dwellers (Panda corys maybe)

Then there's the semi-aggresive combination which really appeals to me......

8+ Tiger barbs
1 Red tailed shark
5-6 yoyo loaches (or a similar sized loach)

My questions are what other similar sized semi-aggresive fish can go with the 2nd setup, whether I can safely house some amano shrimp with the semi-aggresive fish and what other fish combinations do you guys think will go down well in a 240l tank?

Thanks in advance guys

I'm awful with stocking numbers, so, sorry :c Hopefully someone will come along soon to help you out.
How are you going to cycle the tank?

if you want to go down the semi aggressive route you can go with malawis and they are lovely fish

Will cycle fishless, then add 3-4 fish at a time

well i like the first setup, thats my imput.

I'm actually tending towards the second setup now, reason being that I already have a 20g peaceful community tank (platys, swordtails, neons, glass cat) so having a semi-aggresive tank seems a lot more appealing, also, having a pair of dwarf cichlids (as in the 1st setup) will lead to breeding and lots of fry and eventually an overpopulated tank

Instead of a Red tailed shark, I'm thinking of getting a Rainbow shark which imo looks way more awesome

Never considered Malawi's, they are appealing, however I'm planning to have a heavily planted tank which they'd probably eat/ dig up :S

yes that's for sure
