I recently added a large piece of red moor wood to my tank. It had been soaked for a week before I picked it up at the fish shop, and I also soaked and scrubbed it whilst re-scaping my tank.

Just looking in my tank I've noticed it looks like it has a furry coating in places. Mainly between the crooked twiggy bits that I can't get to! I would compare it to the kinda of fluffy furry mould you find on food when it goes off, but not so bad. Its a whitish colour and only really noticeable if you look closely.
Is this bad? Should I try and get it off?

Its going to be really awkward doing so as like I say it seems to be in all the hard to reach areas and also, the wood doesn't completely sink, so I have to rocks on top of it to weigh it down.
I can try and get a pic, but every time I do, it doesn't seem to pick up the fur!

Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

Does it resemble this???

If so, leave it, it will go after a couple water changes.

It doesn't look like the jelly bits, but the bits down the sides. Like the greeny fluff stuff, except mines more white?
I'll try and get a pic.

Is it the same?

That is on mine to, i looked into it and it should go after a while; it is harmless and certain fish love to eat it!

Perfectly normal on new wood, nothing to worry about at all, fish love to nibble at it, especially plecs. If you want to take the wood out and wash it off you can, or leave it and it will dissapear again. I have had loads and loads and loads (did I say loads lol) of new wood go like this never a problem.

My cories seem to be spending more time skimming across the wood so maybe they are having a munch on it?
As long as it isn't dangerous thats fine. I started to panic thinking my wood was rotting or going mouldy!
Thanks :)

I don't like snails =\
I'm getting a Butterfly Plec hopefully in the next few weeks so perhaps s/he will get rid of it for me if it doesn't go of its own accord :D
