Okay so I am setting up my new 50 gallon tank in a few weeks or so...maybe two or 3...I bought 3 female guppies so that they could have their babies. I was hoping that the babies would be old enough to put into the new tank by the time it was set up because I want to have what I know to be a healthy stock because I get attached to the fish and hate it when they die so fast...I put one (the other two still haven't had their babies yet) in the breeder net as soon as I saw her start having babies...and I kept a close eye on her, too. So, now, a week later, in a 10 gallon tank with only a few plastic plants, I find SEVEN pairs of eyes staring at me...from the plant. And I still had three in the breeder net (which I just let out by the way)
So now I'm worried that I got into something I shouldn't have gotten into...the mama guppy died, but that leaves me with 10 known babies and however many others are somehow hiding and 2 female preggo guppies about to drop in the next week or two.
So this is where I need help. I will have a 50 gallon, a ten gallon, and my sister might get a 20 or 30 gallon and said she would be willing to take all the males she could from me, without being overstocked. She too wants to own fish that she knows are young and healthy. But she might not be getting the tank until september...What do I do? What is the best way to manage the fish without having any of the tanks be overstocked?
My current set up tank is 10 gallons (18 inches long, 12 inches high, 10.5 inches wide) with 2 female ballon mollies, 2 female guppies, 4 ghost shrimp, and who knows how many babies...
Please help!
Thanks
