Fungal Growth

Hi,
 
I wonder if the members can help me. Recently a black feathery looking growth has appeared on the edges of my live plant leaves. It is also blossoming on the heater and tank ornaments.
Is this due to a water imbalance and is there any procedure to eradicate it.

sounds like BBA-
scrub off what you can, that stuff just grows anywhere and it does become an ugly site, some people like how it looks in their tanks, personally its a nightmare!
