Hi
My molly given birth to two fry about 3 weeks ago and i am raising them fine at the moment they are growing at a good speed and eating a varied diet they are about 2 cm just short of an inch, the molly has recently given birth to 5 baby fry and i was just wondering if the 3 weeks old fry would eat the new baby fry?

P.s. My 3 week old babies have just started to eat bloodworms so i was just wondering?

Any answers would be much appreciated

Thank You
Scott

If they are taking bloodworm, they will probibly take newborn fry. I would advise you to keep them seporate. Congratulations on the new arrivals BTW :hyper:

Cheers for the quick replies I have my 3 week olds in a breeding net as its bigger and my new born in my breeding trap, I am not to sure about how many she is giving birth to, I have being watching her every day and I have realized them today, so she must of had them through the night. I have read that putting the fish in the breeding trap which seems a good solution to the problem but it is very stressful and I have had her in it, but within 10 minutes she didn't like it so I removed her I no it must of been stressful but I am trying to think of the fry but I have managed to save 6 new born fry and two 3 week old so I will just leave her to have them in the tank and then catch them unless anybody has any other suggestions?

Thank You
Scott

Best way of doing it IMO, as it allows natural selection to eliminate weak fish before you attempt a rescue. Though it sounds crule, it gives you better and stronger fish at the end :good:
