i have a 3 foot fry tank, with around 150 babies jewell cichilid (red forest), i use sponge filters and have no gravel, does anyone know how to clean a baby fry tank? without killing or loosing my babies?

You can do water changes simply, this will help them grow quicker. Also you can use a sponge to scrub any part of the tank that may be yucky. Just be sure the sponge is made for fish and you only use it for fish. :good:

It's hard to gurantee not losing any babies as some do die. And sometimes there is no way to help it or stop it. So do not feel bad in case some fry do pass on.

best of luck!

I syphon my killifish fry tanks using the airline method mentioned above.

All my fry tanks have air driven sponge filters set to a trickle and no substrate.

So, here is what I came up with whilest cleaning my (too?) many fry tanks with a python. I have a bigger fish net that I lay into the water. Then I put the end of my python into the net, keeping the metal frame of the net out of the water so no fry can get in. Then, I vacuum away.
