Fry Update

Here is one of the fry just removed it as starting to get fins nipped and fighting born on the 15th december.......

are you sure it's fin nipping and not a genetic defect? reason i ask is because a good percentage of our current spawn has that exact same notch in exactly the same position, seems too much of a coincidence to me...just speculation on my part though, i have no concrete proof of this..yet.

no not sure will have a look at the rest and parents, just that have seen a few squabbles.........

Hey Bkk, I have wondered about what you have mentioned about the splits in the fins. I have one fry that I thought had gotten a nip in the grow out, but now, over 2 months later, it is still the same size and location. No new regrowth, and not fin rot like I had considered for a period. Do you think this is possibly a injury growing up that just never heals again?

looking at it it almost is central on the tail as well......parents havnt got it and cant really see any on other fry yet will keep looking

Just went in and fed them and had a good look at the tail again and that Nick has gone i will get a picture tomorrow, so its a nip and not a genetic trait on this one....would have got a picture to night but camera battery's flat...

I haven't bred bettas, but two of my males from bcbetta have the same notch.
