what size tank should i buy to keep my fry in until they are big enough to pass back to the fish shop? i am VERY limited for for space so looking for the smallest tank possible without endangering any of the frys lives. At the moment i have 1 pregnant plattie, and possibly a pregnant balloon molly.

Many thanks,

Mark.

60 litre grow out tank

To raise a single platy or molly drop to salable size would require at least a 20 gallon, 80 litre, tank. Unless you are set on raising lots of fry, I would stop removing them from the parents tanks. I have kept 2 molly drops because I wanted to fill up an empty tank but usually the molly gives birth in the community tank and I know it because she is suddenly thinner, I never see her fry. I have a few platies in the same tank and have a single surviving fry from the entire last 6 months. That one is about 2 months old now and swimming with the bigger fish.
