How Long roughly does it take for your fry to grow and be able to go into the main tank.

And how long will it be till it starts getting colour. My fry is 2 weeks old, and Ive seen a bit of development, faster movements, eating a lot more. and size is slightly bigger. But no colour or anything.

Any advice.??

About two months of age they can be released into a main tank with no danger of being eaten by average community fish. This is if they are fed well and have reached 1.5cm or a bit bigger. (But you'd still have to be careful of things like butterfly fish or maybe kribensis.) About five to six months to reach full size. Colour may start to appear anywhere from one to three months depending on which colour strain it is - platys with a base colour of red or orange usually show this colour at birth (as pale pink or yellow). Guppies are born clear or grey, and start to develop colour after one to three months. Mollies are born larger but grow a little slower. Their colours appear later. Are the swords/platies the only livebearers in the tank?

Platy color or even sword color will start to show at a month and by about 2 months it will have much of its color. Size and rate of growth vary a lot based on how much they are fed and the quality of the food. Livebearers also grow much faster when given plenty of water changes and lots of swimming room.

Thanks alot for the advice everyone, Its really helpful.Really Appreciate it,
