Fry Is Stuck

how long should a fry hang half out it's been 4 hours. and it's tail first is that right ? I think some king of tetra, or platty.

Hmmm... doesn't sound too good, but not a lot you can do really, just make sure it has as quiet a time as you can. It will be the platy then, tetras don't give birth to live fry, but lay eggs.

Right you will have to intervine and gently try and pull the tail to help get the fry out, or gently squeeze her belly so it pops out.

You should never squeeze the belly of the fish no matter how gentle you are, it will damage or even kill the fish.

Heard alot of fishkeepers having to do it, that or the mother and all the fry will die.

I did pull a baby from a swordtail before after it was sticking out for about five hours. The baby had a big lumpy head and was dead but the mum was okay and gave birth to a further 16 babies who were okay. I gently netted her and held her against the glass and used my fingers to remove the deformed fry.
