I have had some rather bad luck (well some would say good luck) and 2 of my 6 discus have laid eggs they hatche yesterday (I thought the water was too hard for them to be fertilized but I was wrong :/) so now I have a bunch of baby discus in my tank I don't know whether to move them to another tank or leave them. It would be a challenge to catch all the discus. They haven't been attacked yet because the parents have sort of protect a corner for them. So should I leave them?

leave them for until there eggsacks are empty, generally about 3 days, then feed them newly hatched brine shrimp, seperate from the parents at 15 days and put all fry in a growout tank. once adequite selling sizesell them to your lfs discus go for alot so dont let them rip you off. You can sell just 10 fry for 200$

The pair will probably not have this batch survive i would recommend letting them finish up this spawn and then setting up a 40 gallon breeder for your discus. Like said before you want to feed the young bbs after about 2 days and then you can separate at about 2 weeks but there is no rush as long as the fry are not picking scales off the parents. And then when they are about 2 inches in size you can sell them to a lfs with the right setup or you could grow them out and sell them your self on aquabid for a bigger penny. Sounds like you have a good pair. What are the breed/breeds of the pair?

A pigeon blood and a turquoise. I was really surprised as I thought that only the same type would breed. The fry are still fine. The other discus don't seem to be bothered. Some are eating off the scales and some aren't. Is this normal? Will they all start eating properly soon?

It is survival of the fittest lol. The ones that do not eat the mucus secretion are not fit to live im afraid. And buy pulling off scales i mean pulling full scales of the fish not just eating the mucus (slime coat). Sounds like you should have no trouble getting some nice fry out of these fish. If you were in Massachusetts i would offer to buy the pair :D

I would never sell them. They were my first two discus and I love them the most. A few of the fry are dead but I still have a good amount still looking healthy. Should I continue my normal water change or stop decrease or increase it?

1: i meant buy fry 2: yes water changes sould be 10% daily
I personally find 25% twice a week to be easier and it disturbs the discus less. And if you are trying to induce a spawn in the future set up a separate tank with 3 to 1 ratio of ro to tap. And it is OK when you do water changes if the tap is a little cold it stimulates the spawning activity of the discus. Please feel free to continue asking questions :good: Always better safe that sorry but from your posts i believe the discus should be just fine. And keep us updated on the fry and if you could post pics :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I would love to but I don't have a working computer at the moment and no matter how "smart" they say this stupid phone is it won't upload pictures on here... Sorry guys :/ also I did a 25% water change this morning and the discus seem more active
