Hi, I have just started with freshwater tropical fish which includes a community tank with mollies, guppies, platies and swords. Pregnant guppies and mollies had been separated from the community tank to give birth. The mentioned females gave birth to approximately 30 fries 5 days ago. I removed the mothers and placed them back into the community tank. I have followed the general feeding methods for the fry, however, 6 of the fry had died since. Is this common, or is there specifics that I need to attend to.

Please forgive me if this is not the correct platform "Posting A New Topic In Welcome Fish Forums" for my query.

hey sorry to hear for the loss. I had a fry tank with same fish to yours. i feed mine 3 time a day,i just use the same flakes but grind it down to a powder so the fry can eat it. they are kept at 25c and have live plants and a small filter. how many times do you feed them? are they dying from too much food?

Welcome Gideon.
If you have not already done so, do a huge water change with dechlorination. Newborn fish are fed far too often to let their water stagnate. If you feed them 3 times a day, close to the minimum actually, you need to do a huge water change every couple of days to remove all of the uneaten food and any traces of ammonia that your filter has not dealt with. If you do that, you will not lose any fry at all.
