Can anyone suggest how to keep my guppies fry numbers under control?

They are breading and have alot of fry. I will try to approach lfs to see if they can take any off my hands but i was wondering if there is an other way. Guppy vasectomy seems out of the question but angel fish did cross my mind  but the associated problems with them makes me worry.

I blame her indoors for the guppy problem as she wanted them in the first place!

Try giving them away on your local freecycle group (www.freecycle.org) thats what I did and they are going to a nice home. I must admit I am not going to get any more guppies, although beautiful, mine breed like rabbits!

put them on the pill, and introduce condoms   :hey:

The only real alternative to giving them away, is to have a predator in the tank to eat them. You might try a dwarf gourami, they're more peaceful than Angels, and have a reputation for hunting down every fry in a tank.

I always thought dwarf gourami's would not hurt a fly never mind eat fry -_-

So something like a few drawf gourami would make an effective population control?

Any particular dwarf gourami?

I did not want to go down the angel fish route myself, the size of the angel and having cardinals in the same tank worries me.

Donna123, can i ask why you got rid of the angel?

get a GSP for easy control of all guppies

you could try american flagfish
they have big mouths and will probably gulp down baby guppies

you could also try bolivian rams maybe

if you have another tank with larger fish, you could also use the fry as feeders...
