i've got about 20 guppy fry (my sig exaggerates a bit). seen from above, most are dark coloured, but a couple of them are yellowy. does this just indicate the final colour or does it also suggest what sex they're gonna be?

It will only indicate one of the primary colors, not the final colors. Dimorphism won't occur until, I think, about 2-3 months old.

sounds like they have come from different mothers, i have this, some are light and come from babs, the dark ones i have come rom headache or blue girl, see my sig, hope this helps

I have had several spawns now. every time i has watched it have noticed that the if is a light coloured female the colour of the fry can vary. e.g one spawn around 10 were yellow 12 were grey and around 30 were dark in colour. I think it may have some thing to do with different mates. all fertalising the eggs. guppies can keep around 4 lots of sperm in side them. but i dont know if there are any leakages. from one to the next lot of sperm.

I currently have around 10 different spawns all coming up together and i have only just noticed that some of them are now changing colour. e.g some were coming out with yellow colour when went purple with orange dots. with a great mixture of fry it is getting exciting to see what is going to happen

Not really. Unless to parents are pure breeds, their offspring will not always have the same colors as them. I have 2 "mut" guppy parents and they're offspring are always different.

Guppies can come out in all sorts of colors. Most of the time they start out being dark when their color starts to come in then they turn lighter afterwards. It doesn't always have to happen that way though they can also start out light colored. It has nothing to do with what sex they are though. Guppies develop the gonopodium at around two months and thats when the males start to get their color.

My guppy frys change colors as they grow.... at 1month old, they had light yellow on their tail, then it change slowly into copper brown, then a mixture of red and yellow...very pretty... the mom was red, so i guess the father would be the yellow guy swimming like he is the king of the tank!

My guppys are 6 1/2 week old and just starting to get thier colour.
Yellow and black.
Funny part my 4 weeks old is also starting getting thier colour too.

it is so hard waiting for them to grow up. I stare at them every day waiting for some semblance of color..........none yet. Platies had color on them the first week or so.................at least the blue ones...............oh man it is like watching water boil!
