Hey all!
One more question, as I sat staring at the large main tank, I noticed that the two fry that are in there are transparent, other than their tiny tiny tummies. When do they start to get their color? Mommy's a black molly, and we think the Daddy is the Creamsicle, as the male black wasn't interested in mating till Creamiscle showed up...I'm so excited, they are adorable!

Oh and Mommy's doing well, still has more to pop out, in her little breeder tank. She's pooping TONS! But I've read this is a sign that she's getting ready to push the little guys out.
We are hoping we can catch it happen, but knowing our luck it'll be while we run to the pet store (as I mentioned in my other post, one of my new girls died...) or when we go to bed, just cause that's luck in this house!

they are basically born with the colours that they will be, the colours arent as strong as what they will be when older but it gives you an idea of what they will be like, as they grow you may notice small blemishes, dots etc..... appearing and this is just the smaller pigments that you couldnt see with the naked eye developing into something larger, when i sell my fry, i know it sounds crazy but i look at them through a magnifying glass to get a true picture of what is happening with these small areas that without the magnifying glass i cant see. this gives an honest discription to my buyers

Fry coloring can change drastically. I had black and yellow fish mate. One of the fry as completely black. After two weeks, the front half was gray in color and the back end was still black. Then it became yellow and black right down the middle. Now she is a completely dirty yellow fish.

yep, this is what i mean with the pigments extending to change the colour of the fry, some of my last lot of fry were golden but all the golden ones developed a small dot on one side which grew into a large blotch that covered just one side of the frys belly, all these fry were indentical down to a T, some were born with perfect stripes from the belly to the tails and one had a pattern that reminded me of zebra markings, wish i had kept them to breed from but sold them

Okay. I can see mainly orange and blacks on them of course, but now I know not to get my hopes up too high until they've matured. I really want the orange/black simply for my love of Halloween. There are currently three fry in the big tank that I'm not going to chase down to transfer cause it's way too deep.

I'm not going to read all the other posts on here so forgive me if I repeat someone. Pooping means she's stressed. You should have plenty of room for her and top quality food. They will get their color soon probably, considering their mollies. Guppie's color comes a little later.

She started head butting in the small tank, so under the suggestion of the lady at the fish store (Who we found out is going for her vet degree...) we moved her back to the big tank. I know this causes stress on her, but she is calming down now, and we added some stress coat in the tank when we switched her.
The boys seem to really want to mate with her--I don't know if it's cause she's already pregnant??
But the female creamsicle seems to be 'the caregiver' in the tank. When we put new fish in, she goes over to them if they seem stressed and gets them playing. When the guys decide to gang up on one girl, she butts her way in and puts an end to it, and when Sally was dying, she tried to help, than pretty much guarded her body until I could get her out, and now the creamsicle is helping to protect Big Mama a bit.
The three fry ate well when I fed dinner, I made sure to feed the others some slightly larger flakes on one side of the tank, which distracted them while I dropped some very finely grounded flake in for the fry on the other side, where they seem to hang out.
All seems to be going alright. I turned the light off for them, and everyone's kind of settling down.
I'll keep an eye on them all, like always (I'm odd enough to be the type to do a head count at feedings, so now it includes 3 fry. I'm sure I won't be so particular about it when Big Mama lets her litter go...) But I'm home all day, so I can keep that eye out.
Thanks guys, you've been great.
