I have two tanks, a 5.5G that's been running for over 2 years with some fruit coloured tetras (yes, I realize after I bought they're dyed), a sword tail and some neon tetras. I also have a 47G that's running only a few months with dwarf gouramies, pearl gouramies, a red tailed shark and a tri-colour shark, ottos and some dwarf neon rainbows.
I do have frozen blood worms, sinking sticks, veggie wafers (for the red tail shark and ottos), as well as some freeze dried blood worms, tetra min pro wafers/flakes, and some spirulina flakes. All of which i rotate for feedings to change things up. However I would like to feed some veggies to ensure they don't get constipation.
I've often seen people discuss feeding veggies. In particular, I'd like to feed some frozen peas and perhaps fresh lettuce or fresh spinach. How should I be prepping these foods to feed the above noted fish (they're all rather small aside from the gouramies).
Peas: Do I take skin off while frozen by pinching in fingers? Do I mush them up or cut them up at all? Do I nuke them in the microwave (and for how long)?
Lettuce/Spinach: Do I cut it up at all or just clip on a whole leaf? Do I have to boil it at all? How fine do the pieces have to be if I cut it up?
Any advice is much appreciated as I've never fed the fish fresh nor frozen veggies before. Still a bit noobish in that regard.
