I have been buying frozen squid from my LFS for about $14 per lb.

Has anybody tried to go to a fish market and buy whole squid and cut it up themselves? It's got to be cheaper than $14 /lb.

I found it on mail order for about $8 /lb, but that's still kinda high.

I heard the companies that freeze squid also irradiate it to kill bacteria.
So does this mean the squid at the fish market would have too much bacteria for my trigger?

I used to do that several years ago, and it is a lot cheaper, but I was
getting it solely for eels, so I could'nt say for sure.(the fish-market squid
I was getting was part of the eels diet for about 2 years, and they never
had any problems due to bacteria, as far as I know.)

Thanks for the info.

Now I have to find a fish market that sells it in my area.
