hi i got some frozen blood worm do i need to thaw this out or can i just drop this in the tank

I've seen people mention doing it all sorts of different ways. I believe if you chop up a little bit on a surface it will thaw faster and obviously going to that trouble would ensure that none of your little fellas swallowed a big chunk of ice! Not sure if that's a realistic concern however as I believe some just float small frozen chunks to be picked at...

Hi mickey-n :)

I usually let my frozen worms defrost first. It doesn't take long if you just leave them in a dish on the kitchen counter. If you have any bottom feeders, about the only way they will get their share is if you defrost them and push them under the water so they sink quickly. I use a small cocktail fork to do this. :D

I thaw a cube out in the fridge for a day then feed them at 6 in the evening.
Add abit of tank water with it for 10 mins just to warm it up abit -
then drop in the tank. It sinks to the bottom so everyone gets a go at it !

i put a bit of tank water in a cup and put the cube in until its defrosted and ready to eat, then tip it back in and job done, sinks instantly and all fish get some :good:

i normally drop it in frozen and the fish pick at it at the surface, but now i might try melting it first cos it never gets past the middle level of the tank! :good:

That's exactly what I do, I swirl it about a bit in the cup so it breaks up and defrosts quicker, only takes a few mins then I tip it in the tank slowly

yup. I do the same..

Tkes only a few mins to defrost that way :good:

I defrost mine for 10 mins then chop them up with a small pair of scissors as I find that my neons and some of the smaller fish cant cope with them full lenghth. I also drop some in each end and the middle of the tank to make sure everyone gets their fair share or the greedy kribs and the rainbow fish snatch the lot!

I gave my fish some for the first time yesterday, it was like a feeding frenzy  but absolutely hilarious to see the harlequins and silvertip tetras swimming around with worms hanging out of their mouths desparately trying to swallow them !!

They certainly make short work of them
