my mate just brought a 125 gallon tank and we know a guy who has frontosa fry about 2 inches... but what can we have with them? the guy that brreds them had this in his 80 gallon :
2 sajica t-bar's
2 firemouths
2 severums
2 keyholes
2 blue acara
aswell as two 2 frontosa and there is no problems at all

but what other fish do u recommend we could put in the 125 with the frontosa?

Nopers, it can be done but the poor frontosa wouldnt last to long.

1: The water needs are way differnt to those fish you have in that tank.

2: Those fish are a tad agressive for a slow growing frontosa.

3: Frontosas get to 13" or so and the tank would be pretty overstocked.

Dont mix africans with new worlds dude it doesnt work out, it may for a year or so then all hell breaks out.

PS: If you dont give the frontosa its space and water needs it be stunted and thats somthing that you do not want to happen, they are an wonderful fish but they are best keep with there own kind :)

Frontosa are beautiful and entertaining enough that I think he'll be pleased keeping them alone. I have mine with clown loaches and some s.fryeri (malawi) and I'm really sorry I have the fryeri now,I wish it was just fronts and loaches. Eventually someday I'll keep the fronts by themselves in a larger tank.

It's recommended starting with at least 12 juvies, then pulling the males in a couple few years as they become aggressive until you eventually end up with 1 male and a harem of females.

yea the plan is to get like 8-10 and rasie them up kepp the females and one male and sell the other males to the LFS

another question if u get 1 will it be aggressive with the other fish?? like they are about 2 inches and i was wondering if it would be alright with other fish like in my 80 gallon setup...they are breeded at ph of 7.2 and i always hav my tank about 7.0
so what do u think... i reckon it would be aggressive but just wanted to know

Yeah, I wouldn't keep a frontosa alone. They prefer to live in colonies and one would be quite lonely. It's amazing watching them interact together

If they're very tiny, your friend may be interested in some calvus, they're perfect tankmates for frontosa.
