been looking at frontosas and i have to admit im quite taken with them . im considering going african sometime the future. would a 4x2x2 100ukg tank be suitable for such a magnificent fish?

they get quite big as far as im aware if they are juvi's then yeah but adults you may need bigger. ive just looked and they get upto 35cm so thats big id say a bigger tank for adults defo mate. they are lovely fish though ive been toying with getting 1 or 2 lol

oh bugger! thought that may be the case. cheers mate. maybe il go mbuna then. deffo want to do an african tank next. but im loving me sevs at the moment. so probably wont be for a few years yet. i think i need a bigger house so i can have several tanks

In theory yes you would have space for one, but I would personally only keep them in groups and with them being the african equivalent of the Oscars with Males able to reach a bulky 14-16" they are more suited to something along the lines of 150 or even 200G IMO

lol you have a house size dillema too same here ive had to push my 825l tank into my alcove lol to make it fit in the front room and 2 worktops took up in the kitchen one with a 4 x 2 x 2 turtle setup with a 3 x 1,1/2 x 2 coldwater underneath and a little 18 x 1 x 18 plant growing tank with tadpoles (from a plant i got) and snails lol ive had to put the rest away for now

825l??? oh my god id wet myself with excitement getting my grubby little mits on a tank that size . :hyper:

think id give it a miss then. i like my fish to be happy

I agree that 100g might be a bit small.
Males can be absolute thugs when they become adult and at a possible 16" they can be quite a handful.

Great fish though. One of my personal all-time favourites. :good:
