my friend keeps malawis and he has introduced a frontosa into his tank,he has a jewel 240,and they seem to be getting on ok,does anyone see any future probs with this

It is possible to combine them but a lot depends on the Front's personality. When the Front reaches adulthood - Mbuna could start dissapearing, mixing a large Carnivore with smaller fish is always risky. I suspect a juvenile Front would struggle with Mbuna aggresion too.

Diet would be another problem depending on what species of Malawi's your friend has - i'm guessing they are Mbuna, which are mostly herbivores so feeding them and the Front appropriate diets will prove difficult.

The main issue i would have though is tank size - i have a 240 litre and i certainly wouldn't keep an adult (or near adult) Front in there, especially with other fish - these guys can get up to 15" :/

yes thanks i tryed to tell him this but he woudnt listen, maybe he will end up with i very large front and no cichlids, maybe another thing would be for him to take the cichlids to the lfs and just keep the front

yea I got a problem with this...two words...

SIZE MATTERS

tell your pal to take the frontosa back and quit messing with his tank and let the ones he has grow up properly!!!
