Eeek!! Monty has developed a spot on his side. Can anyone identify what it might be? Water change yesterday. Parameters ammonia nil nitrites nil (before water change). No symptoms. Eating very well as usual.

Is the spot fluffy in appearance. He's a little cutie.

No it isn't fluffy, looks more like scraped scales if you see what I mean.

Could he of scraped himself on something, just keep an eye on him to make sure no fungus grow on it, as fungus can grow on dead tissue.

Thanks again Wilder. He could have scraped himself, there's a large piece of bogwood which he lives behind and swims out next to. The only thing is that tonight I've notice him scaping the affected side on the sand a few times. Wondering if it might be skin flukes? There's a white thing in the middle of the scraped area.

I see yes it could be then if it irratating him.

I'll have a look in the morning and trest if necessary. Do skin flukes wiggle?

Whats the white thing look like as skin flukes can't see them with the naked eye can you describe it does it have a forked tail.

This can't be skin flukes then as I can see it clearly. It is white in the middle of the scraped area and sort of free-floating. No forked tail. Looks like a small worm but I'm sure it is just the water movement making it move. Could just be dead skin?

I don't no, you can get external parasites like anchor worm, fish lice and things, it might be best to take him out and have a good look to be on the safe side, as you said he is rubbing it.

Coo, I've just looked at that photo again and notice that Monty is growing some fearsome teeth!!!

Lol glad i'm not having to take alook then get a magifying glass out.

Uh oh! I'm a bit scared of taking him out. When we moved him to his new tank he was easy to catch but mega heavy and he's grown since then. Don't want to damage him.

Good idea, magnifying glass it is, first thing tomorrow.
