From What Age Can You Sex The Fish?

Hi all

We have guppy and swordtail fry who are growing briliantly.

At what age can you tell the male and female apart? At the moment all the guppies look the same, tail wise, but have started having different colouring on the tops of their bodies. The swordys, half are one colour and the other another but not sure how to sex them.

Any info would be great.

guppies should start at about 6-8 weeks and can ake up to 3 months to sex out.

Swordtails can take up to a year the the last male to sex out but usualy start to sex out from 3 months. However if you remove the younge males this will then encourace them to sex out faster.

It is often possible to sex female guppies from a very early age (2-3 weeks) by the gravid spot.
