From Marine Back To Tropical

Hi All,
After some advise please, My marine tank crashed ( see last nights post in Welcome ) and i am now looking at reverting back to Tropical, question i have though is can i use the same setup. I know i have to remove all the salt etc, My tank is 130L top with 100L sump. I was running with the Berlin filteration system, 3 Koralia One Power heads, 20kg Figian LR. Aqua Tile LED, Substrate is Arogonite Live Sand. TMC Skimmer ( which i guess is now no use ). I lost nearly £700 in stock, including corals and simply cannot afford to start over again with Marine hence my reason for going back to Tropical.
Any thoughts, comments, would be appreciated

You can reuse all of it for an African cichlid setup. Just rinse and dry everything very well. Maybe put the rock and sand out in the sun for several days. I went through the same last year. Sorry for your loss.

Hi, I truly have no idea about the African cichlid, guess i better get re-searching. Thanks for the quick response, I was gutted to say the least when i lost everything, but maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel :good:

Oh, I feel for you!! I had a 10 gallon nano reef tank when my then toddler decided to help feed the fish and dumped half the bottle in!!

I am also going back to tropical from marine b/c of unrelated problems

First I decided what I wanted to stock. I was torn between African cichlids and New World cichlids (angel fish in particular). African cichlids generally prefer harder water, higher ph, etc and the rocks and aragonite substrate from a marine tank would be perfect. Angelfish prefer much softer water, so that would mean losing the rock and sand.

I ended up choosing the angelfish tank so I donated all of my live rock, the fish, skimmer and sump tank but kept the tank, stand, heater, cleaning supplies and nets.

You may find that the powerheads create too much motion in your freshwater tank, but it depends on setup. I bought a new hang on back filter instead of dealing with the sump.
