Hi I have just got 2 dwarf frogs can any1 advise on feeding

Blood worms (frozen probably best as they're too slow to catch live), tubifex. They don;t eat flake etc. and will be out competed by all fish for food so try make sure you see them eat if you have them in with fish. Some people say their frog eat sinking pellets but none of mine ever have so i can't comment on that.

:) My frogs loved freeze dried bloodworms or freezedried shrimp. Wal-mart carries it or any petstore.

I love these little fellas... do you have fish in your tank?

I was thinking of adding them to a community tank.

I wouldn't recommend adding them to a community tank unless it's a fairly small 1 where you can keep an eye on them. I think they're one of the only animals in the world that will starve to death rather than use some initiative in finding food. Also the chances of you seeing them in a larger tank are very low!

they also really need somewhere to get out of the water too! both to breath, the use lungs, and to sit sing and court!

Dwarf frogs (if you are talking about african dwarf frogs- small brown things) are fully aquatic and die if they go out of water so they are suitable to the same set up that the average community fish requires.

Also I forgot to say I use a pipette to suck up blood worms and squirt them right next to where the frogs are to make sure they get food.

Just be sure you have a good lid, wiht no large openings for them to get out through. They have a tendency to leap out for some reason.

this is totally untrue!!!! they drown if they cant reach the surface, they have lungs not gills. you should be more careful with the advice you give. they also sing, court and spawn on the surface. I use a syringe with an extension to feed them their bits and bobs.

All i am saying is what I have read and heard countless times. ADFs cannot survive out of water. They may breathe air so yes have to reach the surface but they are fully aquatic and cannot survive out of water for prolonged amounts of time.

nobody said anything about "extended time". they simply need somewhere they can get themselfs out of the water on.

i dont see the similarity in these two comments. they both mean totally different things.

do your frogs sing and, if so, where do they go to do it?
