I had a freshwater hermit crab but i had to return it after it came out of its shell and diddnt look to good but anyway i cant realy find any info on freshwater hermit crabs and i thought they where only marine has anyone else heared of them?

There are NO freshwater hermit crabs that I am aware of. There are land hermit crabs and marine hermit crabs. Land hermit crabs need a bowl of water (salt or fresh) but can not live in water.

Exactly. There is no freshwater crab that can be living in a shell and be completly submerged in water. There are marine hermit crabs that live in all saltwater tanks. That's as close as you'll get to crabs living completely living underwater. :good:

u see this is what i thought but the hermit crabs seemed to be doing ok untill it got stuck and came oUt of its shell my fish then took the opportunity to attack it but when i took it back it was fine the shop sells land hermit crabs which have large purple claws and marine hermit crabs in another section. These hermit crabs where in tropical freshwater(fully aquatic) and they where white.

You thought correct. Just because the store had them in freshwater does not mean they can live in freshwater. Certainly the crabs would live in water for a while, but not forever. You can search the net but there are no freshwater hermit crabs.

only hermit crabs i know of are the ones that have been mentioned, the fully marine ones or the land hermits
