least likely to survive- I'm guessing neons
most misunderstood-all fish, since people think they can live in tap water, but goldfish as well.
best beginner- betta, danios

most expensive- the aros everyone's talking about
rarest-N/A

least likely to survive-columbian shark, goes from freshwater to full marine when adult

Most exciting - that's in the eye of the beholder - for me, plecs and cories.
Ugliest - long finned bns or long finned anythings for that matter
Least likely to survive - gold nugget plecs, and some other travel-sensitive plecs
most misunderstood - common plecs - they're assumed to live off tank algae alone, assumed to be great for keeping your tank clean (*ahem* anyone seen a common plec poo?!), assumed to be able to live in tiny tanks, nearly always accused if there's a fish disappearance in the tank...etc etc.
Best begginer - in my limited experience, most cories (other than pandas), platies, angels, bristlenose plecs, rusty plecs (given the right tank size)
most boring - cant think of any boring fish
most expensive - the rarer L nos, and apparently arowanas
rarest - not really sure - I guess some L nos, galaxy rasboras now
most beautiful - plecs, of course!

Most exciting: Corydoras catfish, but I have to disagree with this one. I personally think my silver aro is incredible
Ugliest: Black moor telescope (bubble eye) goldfish
Least likely to survive: feeder fish! Bravo GoldfishAttentionSpan!
most boring: guppies! They are sooooo standard! MY ARO EATS GUPPIES FOR BREAKFAST! BOB IS AWESOME!
most misunderstood: piranhas
